Over the course of my journey, that took me from the busy streets of Berkeley, California to the halls of Oberlin College in Ohio, I have continuously learned and developed. My name is Max Cherbini, and I'm a committed student, athlete, and community volunteer who is currently a student at Oberlin College to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Economics. I was inspired to pursue computer science and economics as a career at Berkeley High School. I was captivated by the way it combined critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical applications. As a freshman now I am indulging myself into as many classes that I can that involve these things including, Money and Banking, Sustainable Accounting, and Intro to Computer Science. I have always thought that real-world experience is just as important as academics. Working with the Oberlin Finance Club as a Value Fund Analyst has given me the chance to put my academic understanding to use in practical situations. In addition to honing my technical abilities, managing a $400,000 portfolio, doing financial analysis, and conducting market research have given me important lessons in collaboration, communication, and strategic thinking. But my path is more than just academic and professional development. I've gained insight into the value of discipline, leadership, and collaboration from my experiences as a goalie for the D3 Men's Lacrosse Team and as a coach at ADVNC Lacrosse. My character has been molded by these events, which have also given me a strong work ethic and a will to succeed. My dedication to community service and involvement is another essential aspect of who I am. My life was changed by my volunteer work at Clinica Esperanza in Honduras, where I became aware of the injustices in the world and the power of one person. It reinforced my belief in the power of service and the importance of giving back to the community. To sum up, I am a passionate learner, a committed volunteer, a diligent athlete, and a future professional. I am enthusiastic about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as I look to the future. With my abilities, background, and enthusiasm, I'm sure I can contribute significantly to whatever project I take on.
